Welcome! I'm Flor Margarito and I have the joy of being the first friendly voice you'll hear when you call Family Legacy Therapy. Reaching out for support isn't always easy, and I want you to know how much it means that you did. Hablo español, por favor, no dude en llamar. I'm happy to help in English or Spanish.

What I love most about my role is helping people feel at ease before they've even met their therapist. I'm here to take care of the details, whether that's helping you find the right fit, answering questions, or getting you scheduled, so the process feels simple and warm from your very first call.

You don't have to have it all figured out. Just reach out, and we'll take it from there.

Dr. Krys Hunter began her clinical career at Atascadero State Hospital working with the Sexually Violent Predator and Mentally Disordered Sexual Offender patients. After coming to the conclusion that many of these violent offenses may have been avoided if the offenders had been treated as adolescents, Dr. Hunter went to work at the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation-Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) with the Sexual Behavior Treatment Program. For the next 5-plus years, she worked as a clinician providing direct services to the youth adjudicated for sexual offenses at DJJ, and then 12-years as a Supervising Psychologist and Sex-Offender Treatment Program Coordinator. Now retired from State service, Dr. Hunter has a private forensic practice performing mental health, competency, and risk to reoffend for the San Joaquin County Superior Court, as well as for private attorneys. Additionally, Dr. Hunter provides Clinical Supervision to unlicensed clinicians, interns, and students working for a community-based sex-offender treatment program.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards making a change in your life! I work with teenagers and young adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and who are willing to explore a new path forward. I understand some hesitations and concerns about starting a new relationship with a therapist, and I will create a safe environment where you will feel comfortable enough to be your authentic self without fear or judgment.

I believe that you have your own story of struggles, successes, and aspirations to share, and I feel confident in my ability to help you process and navigate the struggles you've faced. Whether you want to repair fractured relationships with family or friends, or overcome personal struggles, I want to be a witness and companion in your journey.

In my approach, I utilize a variety of techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. However, I make adjustments to my treatment approach based on your needs and comfort. To make an appointment with me, please email or call me, and I would be happy to discuss any questions you have about moving forward.

I believe we're meant to live fulfilling lives. But events happen that distort our sense of what's possible and can pull us toward unhealthy patterns. Whatever the situation, it's never too late to regain control as life keeps offering opportunities to transform. I specialize in trauma treatment, couples therapy, and compulsive pornography use. I am also trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).

I believe therapy is an opportunity to better understand the whole person rather than simply focusing on a diagnosis. Life’s challenges, trauma, and other difficult experiences can leave us feeling stuck or unsure of what’s possible, but I believe meaningful change can happen with the right support. As a therapist-in-training, my goal is to provide a space where you feel comfortable, safe, and heard while we focus on your unique experiences and the goals that matter most to you. I have a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and are seeking meaningful change.

Those who meet with me can expect a calm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where they are encouraged to move at a pace that feels comfortable. My graduate training at the University of the Pacific has introduced me to evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), and I look forward to continuing to grow these skills under clinical supervision. My hope is that you leave each session feeling supported, empowered, and more confident in your ability to create lasting change.

I believe that we have the ability to lead a rewarding and meaningful life. However, sometimes we face challenges that can feel overwhelming, making it difficult to experience satisfaction. Despite these circumstances, there is hope because your situation does not define you. I am trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).

Clients describe my style as welcoming and genuine. I incorporate skills from Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I value collaboration as we work toward the goals you want to achieve for yourself while also considering your experiences and strengths.

I believe that when one attends therapy, they are accepting the truth of their life, which lends to the start of the healing process. I have been described as easy to talk to and as being able to understand the noble intent of my clients' needs. Through 25 years of experience working in non-profits, I have learned that people change and reach their mental health goals by gaining education, building emotional connections, and finding the courage to take action. As a therapist, my focus is on following the client, helping them create a new narrative life story, creating connections regarding thoughts and emotions, and nurturing healthy attachments in relationships.  I use the creative arts and play therapy as a tool to nurture healthy attachments during family therapy sessions. My current focus is working with women, children, adolescents, and families who are Spanish-speaking.  My specialty is in the area of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, which is evidence-based and helps children and parents improve the attachment bond through guided play to reduce negative behaviors. I am passionate about working for Family Legacy Therapy where I can help transform minds and allow God to use me as a tool to heal generations of families in our community.
